Description: Pantai Moale is a 4 kilometer long completely natural beach on the north-west coast of South Nias. According to locals this is the most beautiful beach in the region, and many visitors agree. Its an amazing place to watch and photograph sunsets. Due to the beauty of this location an international hotel company planned to build a huge resort here in the 90’s. What they didn’t think of was that during the swell season the waves pound the beach with the full force of the Indian Ocean and swimming is not safe. Despite this it’s a beautiful beach and it is possible to swim during calmer conditions. For surfers there are some nice beach breaks for beginners and more serious waves on both ends of the beach.
Getting there: Drive 35 kilometers north from Sorake along the east-coast road. Near Lölöwa’u village the road overlooks the beach. Turn left onto small track that leads to the beach.
Indonesian name: Pantai Moale, Desa Lölöwa’u, Kecamatan Amandraya, Kabupaten Nias Selatan.
